We’ve also seen ‘the return of the nude’ this season, from runways to red carpets, when we’re used to being inundated with the likes of deep burgundies and rich jewel tones during this (chilly!) time of year, the humble nude is standing strong.
Always, always start with a flawless base, this is the trick to perfect nude nails! Try Dior Diorlisse, a nourishing, ridge and imperfection filling base coat. It can be worn alone to give nails a natural, clean ‘glow’ or worn under your favourite nude to create a perfect base.
When selecting your nude shade, keep your skin tone in mind.
Paler skin tones with blue undertones work best with cool toned nudes – this is generally most nudes that a little pinker in appearance. Creamy beige shades will also work beautifully!
For more olive or darker skin tones, most nudes will look great on you (lucky you!).
You can always ascertain what kind of shade is best for you by the jewellery you wear – if you’re a gold girl, go for warmer shades. While if silver looks best on you, opt for cooler shades that a slightly pinker with silver or blue undertones.
Personally, I have olive skin with a pink undertone and love opting for a creamy pale beige tone as opposed to a shade with a very warm base, this is simply because I like to brighten the pink undertone in my skin and give my nails a clean, fresh look.
Don’t ever forget to seal your shade with an impeccably glossy top coat. My favourites are “gel” appearance top coats as I find they give manicures the most longevity (while keeping them mirror-shiny!).
Dior Gel Coat and Julep Polymere Top Coat are my picks.
